Reef Diving

We are located within John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park at its southern boundary. The John Pennekamp State Park area has successfully preserved the natural setting and local marine life.  Diving or snorkeling in the underwater park will allow you to observe the display of beauty and to enjoy the adventure of interacting with vast species of marine life.

When you stay at Blue Fin Rock Harbor Marina & RV Resort  Molasses Reef is only minutes from your RV site!.  It is one of the most popular reefs in the Upper Keys and is well known for the diving and snorkeling available. Molasses Reef is famous for its clear water, many fish, and numerous corals.  Depths range from 10 feet to about 70 feet. Caves and ledges shelter lobsters, moray eels, parrotfish, angelfish, filefish, turtles, rays, and nurse sharks.

Molasses Reef is considered the premier dive & snorkel destination in North America.  The abundant sea life at this location has been described as "an aquarium in the wild."  The countless species of marine life make this experience like no other!

Please look at our slideshow below to see some of the many types of underwater sea life that can be encountered while diving or snorkeling our waters.    (hover over arrows for slideshow or click on the photos to enlarge)
